…as Gov. Gaidam Throws More Light on Why He Picked Him as Successor
The National Secretary of the APC, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, who has been anointed by Gov. Ibrahim Gaidam to succeed him as the next governor of Yobe state, has said that he will never betray Gaidam, who has been a mentor and boss to him throughout his political career.
Mai Mala Buni spoke on Saturday at the Government House, Damaturu during a courtesy and thank you visit to the governor.
Buni said Governor Gaidam is and has been his political career’s major pillar of support, adding that he would forever remain grateful to the governor for all that he’s done to his life.
“Your Excellency, I am grateful to you in more ways than I can say here. I am grateful for your nomination and endorsement. You are always there for me. You made it possible for me to be governorship aspirant and possibly candidate. Almighty Allah knows that I will never betray you.”, he said.
The APC National Secretary, who praised Governor Gaidam’s leadership of the state and his commendable and pioneering role in the merger of political parties that led to the formation of the APC, said Yobe APC is now “united and cohesive” as a result of the governor’s leadership.
Mai Mala Buni assured that when elected governor of the state in the 2019 elections, he will “sustain and deepen” the legacies of Governor Gaidam.
Gaidam, in his speech, extolled Mai Mala Buni’s personal qualities, saying he is hard working, competent, reliable, transparent and extra-ordinarily loyal.
He said he made him special adviser and chairman of the ruling party in the state as well as two-term national secretary of the APC because he believed in his work ethic and his determination to do his state and country proud.
He said as Mai Mala Buni picks the button in May 2019, he is confident he will build on the legacies that he will leave behind in the state.
He assures Buni that he will not desert or leave him after he leaves office in May 2019 and that he will be around to offer useful advice, whenever the need arises, based on his years of experience as public servant, deputy governor and governor.
The Senate Leader, Ahmad Lawan, who represent Yobe North in the senate, also spoke glowingly about Governor Gaidam, describing his leadership as people-centred and uncommon.
“Gov. Gaidam is an exemplary leader who does not always behave the way typical politicians do. He has brought tremendous progress to our state”, he said.
Senator Lawan tanked the governor for the opportunity given him to contest for the senate again, and tasked all party candidates to work closely with federal government to bring about more development in the state if elected during the 2019 elections
