CHIJI COLLINS IS ON HIS OWN – HON. UGBOMA ….SAYS SPEAKER IS AN EMBARASSMENT TO GOVT.

By Frank Emeka

Amidst the stiff call for the resignation of the Speaker of the Imo house of Assembly by members of the assembly, the member representing the Oguta State Constituency, HON. Frank Ugboma has categorically stated that the speaker, The Rt. Hon. Chiji COLLINS is on his own and stands alone.

Hon. Ugboma stated this while chatting with verbatim correspondents in Owerri recently obviously in response to press releases where the Speaker’s Camp debunked reports about alleged 22 signatures for his impeachment. The release from the Speaker’s camp had alleged that the plot for his impeachment was hatched by the minority SIX PDP members who he also alleged are targeting the governor in the long run.

Reacting to this, Hon. Ugboma said that the Speaker has indulged in self deceit as almost all the members of the assembly are against his continued stewardship be of the assembly .

He went further to say that it will be ridiculous for the Speaker to claim that it is only the SIX PDP members that are agitating especially after the fracas and violence that erupted during the APC house caucus meeting where bottles and other weapons were reportedly used freely adding that it would have rather been a peaceful meeting if his fellow APC colleagues are with him.

Ugboma who said the Speaker has embarrassed both the Governor of Imo and also people of the state also added that the Speaker does not have up to four people standing with him at the moment. He described the Speaker as a very greedy man who does not understand the house procedures which he said has retarded the development of both the assembly and its members.

Ugboma went on to say that the speaker is so ungrateful emphasizing that for him to condemn former governor Ihedioha who made him Speaker means that Gov. Uzodimma is not safe with him and listed lack of knowledge for house procedures, selfishness, greed, high handedness, running the assembly as private enterprise among others as the core reasons why members want him out of the exalted position.

He added that the members are waiting for him to reconvene the house and honorably resign or face impeachment as the house members are determined to stop his excesses and further destruction of the house.

Verbatim was reliably informed that that the assembly has been on break as members were asked to go on isolation after some of them tested positive to covid -19.

However, the PDP members of the assembly are of the opinion that the speaker does not want to reconvene the assembly for fear of impeachment emphasizing that they will invoke the house rules to reconvene the house and do the needful if he continues to delay reconvening the house.
