Members of Special Presidential Investigation Panel for Recovery of Public Projects, led by indefatigable Chairman, Chief (Barr.) Okoi Obono-Obla paid a courtesy visit to the Controller General of Nigeria Immigration Services, Muhammed Babandede MFR, on Thursday 29th November 2018, at its headquarters in Abuja.
Members of the Panel were heartily received by Mr. Babandede and his management team.
The Chairman of thePanel and his team were impressed by great strides which the Nigeria Immigration Service is making. Undoubtedly,Mr.Babandede is a top professional and leader who knows his onions. He is sound, firm and competent. He has indeed repositioned the Nigeria Immigration Service to an enviable height. In his effort to reform the Nigeria Immigration Service Mr.Babandede has brought a lot of innovation including computerization of the passport storage system of the Service. Today, the biometrics of every holder of the Nigerian passport is being captured and stored in the data bank of the service for future reference.
Mr.Babandede is a great example of competent and intelligent professionals PMB has appointed into his government. Mr.Babandede, through transparent and prudent management of funds is embarking upon massive construction of offices of the Nigeria Immigration Service throughout the country. This is unprecedented in the history of the Service since it was established by an Act of the Parliament in 1963.
The Controller General pledged to partner with the Panel to enforce the travel ban on all politically exposed people who are under investigation by the Panel.He also pledged to make available some of the Intelligent Officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service to assist the Panel in the execution of its mandate.In addition, he solicited for the assistance of the Panel to recover property belonging to the Service which was illegally appropriated by unscrupulous persons.
